Overcoming Your Fears

Screen shot 2015-06-22 at 6.54.42 PMFear can be debilitating and cause you to stop dead in your tracks, especially when you are new to network marketing and facing the fear of rejection for the first time.

I know firsthand how badly the sting of rejection can be.  I had a horrible experience being rejected when I first started sharing my opportunity.  I was pretty much publicly humiliated, but I will spare you the details.  What I will tell you is how that first rejection stayed with me for years.

Thankfully I was able to overcome it, and I happy to say that it wasn’t really that difficult and you can too.

The first thing you must do is to realize that fear will not “go away” on it’s own.  Fears are eliminated by the repetition of what you are afraid of.  In our business this means that you simply have to get in front of more people, and yes hear a few more “no’s” until they do not phase you anymore.  I know that this is really the last thing you want to hear, and thought I was going to give you some magic trick to get over it, but I’m sorry it just doesn’t work that way.

You must trust in the process and know that the fear will subside and the WORST thing you can do is to do nothing.  This will cause you to stagnate and eventually quit because you didn’t get anywhere.  What you need to understand is that with practice you will build confidence and the necessary resilience to the fear of failing.

Everyone has experienced failure at some point in their life.  What is necessary to remember that every failed attempt is a learning experience that brings you to your greatest success.  The value is in the lessons that are learned with each attempt.  Every person who has accomplished something great has numerous failing that have paved the road to his success.

I want you to step out on a leap of faith with me and be BOLD!  Do the biggest thing that scares you the most.  You will find that after you have that one step will make every action thereafter much easier.  Most people are terrified of what other people’s opinion of them is and looking foolish.  From experience, I can tell you that your fear of that is much greater than the reality.  Sure you may have a moment of judgement, but that is more of a reflection of their character than you.

Mama’s I would like you to take a little lesson from your kids on this one.  Think about the last time you were at the grocery store and your darling asked you for candy while waiting at the check out.  Of course being the excellent health conscious mom you are you said “no.”

Did little Lucy crumble and shrink away?  Of course not, she probably did what mine does every time and continue to ask over and over as if the word is incomprehensible to her.  No doesn’t phase kids one bit, and I hope that you too can disempower it and leave fear behind.
